Overview

The only requirement to use Square integration is that a client has given or created a Square login that can grant you access to sales data of the client’s Square account.  If you already have a login that you can use to sign in at squareup.com/login, and view sales information, then you should be all set.

Connection

To enable Square integration with an existing Sculpture client account, please reach out to Sculpture support, and indicate:
  1. Client Name & Client ID.
  2. Whether you would be using Sculpture’s Standard or Beta server.

Note:  as of April 2024, only Beta servers are available for Square integration.

Setup

After Sculpture support confirms that the client is configured, the Square integration on the Sculpture 2020 website may be accessed as follows:
SALE & RECIPES > SALES & RECIPE SETUP > DOWNLOAD SALES via INTEGRATION

Access

  • Go to Sales & Recipes > Sales & Recipes Setup
  • Select “Download Sales via Integration”

Next, you should see a smaller pop-up window.  If you do not see the pop-up window, your browser is blocking it, and typically a browser would indicate a “blocked pop-up” by an icon shown in the address bar:
Select the “blocked pop-up” icon, to allow it.
If you cannot locate the icon, here are instructions on how to unblock pop-ups for popular browsers.
After unblocking, you would have to, again,
  • Go to Sales & Recipes > Sales & Recipes Setup
  • Click on the button “Download Sales via Integration“.

Authorization

The pop-up window looks like this.
Click on the button “Authorize“, and follow Square’s instructions.  If your Square login has multiple businesses associated with it, you would have to select the applicable one, by clicking on the corresponding “View Dashboard” in List View, or “card” in Card View.
Once you have successfully authorized access to Square, you will be taken back to Sculpture and asked next to select the applicable location.  In addition, remember to configure applicable options.

Download

Click on the button “Confirm and Download” to download POS data from Square, and follow instructions after the download to proceed.


Square Permissions

These instructions are minimal and do not completely cover every scenario.  They might be sufficient for Square owners who are more familiar with account management features of the Square system.  If further support is needed, Sculpture will not be able to provide it and would suggest owners reach out to Square.
Please also see screenshots enclosed following the instructions for visual reference.

Step 1: With an Owner’s login, sign in at squareup.com.

Step 2: At the Dashboard from the left-side menu, go to Staff & payroll > Team.

Step 3: You should be taken to the Team > Team Members screen.  Select the member assigned for Sculpture purposes.

Step 4: A member profile panel should show to the right.  In the panel, find the Permissions section and click on Edit.

Step 5: Next in the Permissions screen, find the section “Permission set” and click on Edit.

Step 6: You should now see all of the customizable permissions for Sculpture.  The Sculpture integration requires the “Full Access” permission.  Switch on this permission to grant access.


Troubleshooting

Errors on Authorization:

Only the Business Owner can Authorize

The connection to Square worked, but the login used does not have the proper permissions. Square was able to evaluate what you entered and return a denial.

Location: Issue is Client/Point-of-Sale Side. 

Resolution: Speak to Client or Square to get the correct level of access.

Invalid Value for Parameter ‘redirect_uri’

The connection to Square failed.

Location: Issue is unknown and requires investigation
